La Coubre Lighthouse

The Coubre Lighthouse is an iconic landmark in La Tremblade, France. Located south of La Rochelle, the base of the lighthouse tower is just barely visible from the beach, the tower itself sitting atop a rocky outcrop in the ocean. The tower is open to visitors who can climb the 60 steps of its narrow staircase for sweeping views of the Atlantic coast, the nearby La Re islands, and the famous salt marshes. The lighthouse is a great spot for early morning sunrises and watching a variety of birds, or just taking in the area's majestic beauty.
