Edzna Archaeological Zone

Edzna Archaeological Zone is a fantastic place to learn about the history of the ancient Maya civilization. The remains of the city are among the best-preserved examples of a pre-Columbian city in Mexico. The most important feature are the impressive pyramids, including the Acropolis pyramid dedicated to the god Itzam Na, which is now the logo of the archaeological zone. Highlights of the other structures here include a palace complex with many buildings made of stone and stucco, several plazas, and other temples. Visitors can see traditional Maya stelae and artwork, and explore the ball court and Canal Rojo. It’s easy to spend a full day getting lost among the many ruins of the zone.
