Catedral de Santiago de Compostela

The Catedral de Santiago de Compostela is a stunning Romanesque church located in the northwestern Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela. It is one of the major stops on the famous pilgrimage route, the Camino de Santiago. Dating to the 12th and 13th centuries, the Catredal features an elaborately carved west façade and a soaring dome, flanked by two impressive bell towers. Inside, the Cathedral is awash with mural and stained glass windows, carved and gilded altarpieces and columns, and intricately carved tombs. Its highlight is the tombs of St. James and his disciples. The Plaza del Obradoiro, located in front of the Cathedral, is the perfect place to take in the stunning scenery. Visitors will also find the Portico de la Gloria and the Praza da Inmaculada squares in this area, both of which feature beautiful fountains and memorable sculptures.
