Castillo de Santa Bárbara

Castillo de Santa Bárbara is a spectacular castle located atop the protective cliffs of Mount Benacantil in Alacant, Spain. This fortress is believed to be built by the Moors around the 9th century and later altered by the Spanish in the 17th century. It's a great place to experience a bit of Spanish heritage and to marvel at some fantastic views of the city. Inside the castle, there's an exhibition with hundreds of archaeological artifacts, making it the perfect place for history buffs. Since it is located on a mountain, the climb up takes some time but the picturesque views around the entire path make it worthwhile. There is a lift on site to help you get up to the top where the castle resides and from there you can see the beach and its sparkling waters.
