Belfry of Ghent

The Belfry of Ghent, a UNESCO World Heritage site, stands proudly in the heart of Ghent, Belgium. This medieval structure dates back to the 14th century and is the tallest belfry in Belgium, reaching a height of 91 meters. Originally built to store the city’s charters and treasures, it also served as a watchtower for spotting enemy invasions and fires. Visitors can climb the tower via a spiral staircase or take an elevator to enjoy panoramic views of the cityscape. Inside, you'll find the impressive carillon with 54 bells that still ring out today.
