Arco de la calle Phillips

Arco de la Calle Phillips is one of Santiago's most iconic landmarks, located in the Parque Forestal. The arch was constructed in 1902 to commemorate the centenary of Chilean independence from Spain and to house a memorial to the people who fought for the country's freedom. The arch is made from a mix of plaster and stone, and decorated with neoclassical-inspired motifs. The entrance to the Parque Forestal is flanked by two bronze lions and topped off with a bronze medallion filled with a map of Santiago at the time it was created. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy the architecture of the city, or take a stroll through Parque Forestal, filled with gardens, fountains and monuments.
