Płock, Poland, is best known for the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, located on the banks of the Vistula River. The majestic and impressive cathedral was built in the 14th century, and is the oldest surviving Gothic building in the country. Inside, visitors can admire beautiful frescoes and stained glass windows, plus learn about its history. Not far from the cathedral is Płock Castle, a red brick fortress that was once the home of Polish kings. The castle can be explored and provides excellent views of the river and the city.
