The Last Spiral
📍 United Kingdom
The Last Spiral is a fascinating archaeological site located in the Lincolnshire Wolds of England. It's a mysterious mound of stones, which was built in a spiral shape by unknown people more than 3,000 years ago. Still visible today, The Last Spiral is thought to have been a place of ritual activity and is a remarkable reminder of Britain's distant past. At approximately 40 meters in diameter, this Neolithic or Bronze Age mound is an incredible sight - the large stones placed in perfect circles, slowly winding its way up the hill. Historic England has declared it an ancient monument and it remains an impressive sight. Although visitors can study the structure during the day, it's best viewed at night when it's illuminated by the full moon, accentuating the incredible array of features. Despite being a relatively small site, The Last Spiral is a great place to explore and a reminder of England's wonderful prehistory.
