The complex includes a Franciscan convent and a baroque-style church built in the late 18th century by the Spanish. The church is built around a terrace and a central patio. The inside of the building contains intricate colonial designs and wall paintings drawing on several different sources, both religious and traditional. Other attractions within the complex include a museum, a baroque style fountain and a garden as well as a grand staircase. The baroque style fountain at the museum was built in the late 19th century and showcases a reproduction of an image of St. Francis of Assisi. The garden, botanical and horticultural specimens appear in colours, shapes and sizes making it enjoyable for visitors.
