Sutro Baths

The Sutro Baths are amazing ruins of a saltwater swimming pool complex located on the northernmost tip of San Francisco near Land's End. The complex once had seven Olympic-sized swimming pools and a number of slides and diving boards. It was destroyed by fire in 1966, but it still remains an incredible sight to behold, with stunning views of the sea stacks, rocky outcroppings, the Pacific Ocean and even the Golden Gate Bridge. Explore the ruins on the shore by walking the original mosaic sidewalks and limestone stairs. The former pool's drained and filled space is a fascinating combination of rocks dotted with succulents and evergreens. Be sure to bring a camera along for some amazing photo ops, as well as plenty of layers and a windbreaker.
