Senjokaku Pavilion
📍 Japan
Senjokaku Pavilion is a 500-year-old pavilion located in Hatsukaichi, Japan. It was built in 1587 by warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi and is the centerpiece of Miyajima in the Hiroshima Prefecture. It stands in the middle of Itsukushima Shrine and is a stunning example of Japanese architecture. The floor of the pavilion is covered in 12,000 square feet of a traditional tatami mat, making it one of the largest in all of Japan. Inside, visitors can see artifacts from the time of its construction. There is also a park located behind Senjokaku Pavilion that is perfect for viewing the world-famous floating torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine.
