Inside the church, visitors can admire the spectacular frescoes, wooden statues and a mausoleum. The most prominent attraction of the Santuario San Damiano is a painting of Jesus Christ painted on wood, which, according to legend, spoke to Saint Francis and encouraged him to rebuild the Church.
