The pyramid was constructed in 1989, as an entrance to the newly renovated museum. It stands roughly 21.6 meters (71 feet) in height, with four inverted pyramids around its base. Described by the architect, Ieoh Ming Pei, as “the lost pearl of Egypt in the heart of Paris”, it is a striking structure, which contrasts with the traditional architecture of the Louvre. The pyramid is often illuminated at night, making it a popular feature in Parisian cityscapes. Visitors to the Louvre now enter through the glass pyramid rather than the original entrance. A good place to take a picture of the pyramid from is Place du Carrousel, just west of the Louvre .🗺 KartaVisa på kartan🎫 TuristattraktionerKolla turistattraktioner i närheten🏨 VandrarhemKolla vandrarhem i närheten🌦 VäderinformationFå väderinformation och mycket mer från appen.
