Prasat Phra Thep Bidon is a small former palace located in the grounds of the larger Grand Palace (Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang) in Bangkok, Thailand. It was built between 1855 and 1868 by King Rama IV (the younger brother of the first King of Siam Rama III) and is now a protected national monument. Its beautifully designed stucco relief walls and pillars are decorated with a variety of Buddhist designs and motifs. It also includes two staircases and a spacious courtyard. The entrance gate of the palace is guarded by giant lion statues and a statue of the King. It is a favorite spot for tourists and locals to spend some quiet time admiring and taking in the beauty of this historic landmark. There are few vendors selling food and souvenirs in the area so remember to come with some extra cash. Prepare for some strong midday sun so wear a hat and plenty of sunscreen.
