The lighthouse, first built in 1871, overlooks a large sand-dune valley and is nowadays managed by the Historic Places Trust and open to the public. The Poutu lighthouse is all about dramatic landscapes, with its magnificent views of the Kaipara harbor and the majestic sand dunes that surround it, it really is a sight to behold. Boasting part of the longest boardwalks in the country and a panoramic viewpoint with breathtaking views, it's easy to see why many visitors come to this corner of the world to take a look. The lighthouse can be visited year-round, but the best opportunity to observe it is during low tide, where the brightness of the lens can be admired more clearly and the landscape surrounding the tower is even more remarkable. It’s also a great spot for bird-watching with Torea, Bristlethong and Hudsonian Godwit amongst the many species of birds seen here.🗺 KartaVisa på kartan🎫 TuristattraktionerKolla turistattraktioner i närheten🏨 VandrarhemKolla vandrarhem i närheten🌦 VäderinformationFå väderinformation och mycket mer från appen.
