It spans the Tagus River and connects the Tagus Estuary to Almadama, connecting Lisbon and the Almada mainland. It is one of the symbols of Lisbon and was designed by a team of engineers, including Alberto D'Acquisto, Leonel da Moura, and Vasco da Gama. It is identical to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and was built by the same company. The bridge is over 2400 meters long and offers some of the best views of Lisbon, the Tagus Estuary, and the Vasco da Gama Bridge.
