Pegasus-Brunnen
📍 Från Schloss Mirabell, Austria
Pegasus-Brunnen and Schloss Mirabell are two of the most popular tourist attractions in Salzburg, Austria. The Pegasus-Brunnen is a large stone fountain that was commissioned in 1661 to adorn the Mirabell palace gardens, located on the north bank of the Salzach River. The fountain is a large stone sculpture of Poseidon riding on the back of a winged Pegasus. The Schloss Mirabell is a grand palace and garden complex built in the early 18th century by Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau. It was originally intended to be a summer home for his beloved Salome Alt. The palace and garden is open to the public, although much of the palace is still used for government offices. Guided tours are available with advance booking. Both the fountain and palace are popular for seeking out your inner prince or princess with some fun photos!
