Monumento a Los Heroes de Iquique

Monumento a Los Heroes de Iquique is located in Valparaíso, Chile, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a monument dedicated to the thousands of people who died in the Battle of Iquique in 1879. The monument is made up of a bronze statue of a heroic soldier atop a 40-foot-high column, surrounded by a series of bronze statues of soldiers and marines standing around the base. The monument was built in 1886 and is located on a small hill overlooking the bay of Valparaíso. Visitors can climb the stairway surrounding the monument to get a better view of the city below.
