📍 New Zealand
The Manawatu River is one of New Zealand's major rivers, and runs through the region of Manawatu-Wanganui. It rises in the Tararua District of the North Island and flows into the Tasman Sea near Foxton Beach. The river is also known as Te Awa o te Atua, or the "River of God". This river is popular among visitors for its spectacular landscapes and stunning scenery. You can explore the area on hiking, biking, kayaking, or horse-riding tours. Along the banks of the Manawatu, you will discover many fascinating rock formations, and in springtime, you can view the spectacular waterfall at the Aokautere Jet. You can also find lovely walks nearby, such as the Manawatu Gorge or the Manawatu River Pathway, both of which provide incredible views of the river and its surroundings. Whether you are looking for some outdoor adventure, or simply looking to relax and enjoy the scenery, the Manawatu River is a great destination for all.
