The Kammerschleuse is a moated castle located in Wetterau, Germany. Its history dates back to the 14th century. The present day guard bridge is from 1574. The Kammerschleuse was originally used to collect taxes and tolls. It was also used for border protection between Hessia and Hesse-Kassel. It is believed the castle was owned by members of the Echter family from 1201 to 1588. Today the castle is owned by the municipality of Wetterau and open to visitors with guided tours available. It offers impressive architecture and stunning sculptures, that even after centuries make it worth visiting. It fascinates visitors with its picturesque structures, stone pillars and bridge that are surrounded by water. With a tranquil atmosphere and numerous interesting details, the castle is a must-see destination for those interested in exploring its unique charm.
