Dating from 1539, it was originally built to be a shelter for pilgrims, but over the centuries it has been transformed into a hospital and a school. The building displays an ornate facade, which is adorned with a variety of architectural styles. Inside, visitors can explore the two courtyards and several former wards, which have been converted into exhibition spaces. In the main courtyard, is a neo-classical monument dedicated to María de los Desamparados, the Patroness of the city. On the western facade, there is also an octagonal tower, built in the late 19th century. Additionally, the building also features one of Úbeda's two Renaissance fountains. Visitors can explore the interiors of the building and its courtyards for free.
