The Hearst Tower is a 46-story structure and a landmark of modern architecture in the heart of Manhattan's Midtown District in New York City. It was designed by renowned architect Sir Norman Foster, the designer of London’s The Gherkin and Wembley Stadium.

The Hearst Tower stands as a befitting example of Sir Norman Foster’s modernist sensibilities. Built in 2006, it sits adjacent to the original brick and limestone Hearst Building, designed by architect Joseph Urban and completed in 1928. The 46-story High Tech Modern Tower features a unique tiered glass curtain façade – its 16 stories of setbacks become gradually wider towards the top, adding an intriguing element to the city’s skyline. The inside of the tower provides a striking contrast to its outward appearance. The lobby is clad in green marble and chrome, and houses a custom-designed kinetic sculpture by Björn Dahlem which is suspended over the main entrance atrium. There is also a retail gallery that features sculptures, installations, and interactive displays. In addition to being a marvel to behold, the Hearst Tower is also an eco-friendly structure, the first skyscraper in Manhattan to earn a gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Its exceptional design, verticality, and energy-efficiency place the tower amongst the foremost examples of green architecture in the world.
