The Castello Svevo (Swabian Castle) of Trani is a medieval castle located in the city centre of Trani, Italy. First built in the 12th century by the Norman king Roger II, it was enlarged in subsequent centuries and features a mix of Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles. The most notable feature of the castle is its large tower, built by emperor Frederick II, which dominates the Trani skyline. It houses a beautiful archaeological museum, which has an impressive collection of artifacts and pieces of local history. The castle is also a popular spot to take in views of the city, the Adriatic sea, and the distant Apulian hills. A stroll around the grounds gives a sense of Italian history and culture, and the atmosphere radiates charm and character. During the summer, the castle hosts open-air concerts and cultural events. A visit to this stunning castle is an experience not to be missed!
