Built in the late-eleventh century, the church is home to works of art by great masters such as Burgundian sculptors Gislebertus and Vilmon of Trigny, and the 12th-century stained glass windows of the upper nave. An impressive western portal framed by two imposing stone towers is a signature part of the building's exterior. Design highlights inside include the vast nave, grand ambulatory, and a crypt that dates back to the 6th-century and houses the relics of Mary Magdalene.
