Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat is a temple complex located in the province of Siem Reap in Cambodia. This temple complex consists of hundreds of temples, walls and gates set within 500 acres of forest and ancient cities. It is considered to be the largest religious monument in the world. Angkor Wat was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992 and is now considered one of the most important archaeological sites in Southeast Asia. Visitors to the site can explore the ancient structures, wall carvings, and a variety of architecture, including the large red sandstone temple. The site also contains many other ancient structures including the Bayon and the Ta Prohm temple which has been taken over by the jungle. Visitors should plan on spending at least a full day at this impressive site.
