Unesco Werelderfgoed Kinderdijk Molens is a set of 19 windmills built in 1740, between the Netherlands cities Alblasserdam and Nieuw-Lekkerland. They are considered as the oldest still operational windmills in all of the Netherlands. The windmills are an important part of the Dutch cultural landscape. An artificial embankment, the Alblasserwaard, was built around them to prevent flooding. Visitors can take boat rides, bike trips, or walking tours from the visitors center to explore these windmills. You can learn about the history and the process of how the windmills work. The windmills are a photographer's paradise and great for taking interesting pictures.
