The Cathedral of Évora in Portugal is a stunning example of Late Gothic architecture. Built between 1253 and 1598, this magnificent building stands out among other religious monuments in the region. The white-painted limestone façade is crowned by two graceful spires and features detailed sculptural decoration; the interior of the church is a single large aisle with a transept featuring five sections with high vaults. Inside you can discover a chapel dedicated to Saint Narcissus, chapels of Our Lady of Sorrows, the St. Sanchos, the Angel's Hall and a funerary chapel. Look out for the 16th-century carved stone choir stalls depicting fine biblical scenes. If you are lucky you may catch a beautiful choral service when visiting the cathedral. A must-visit for its architectural value and the serenity of this place.
