📍 From I giardini falla finestra, Italy
The Reggia Venaria is a majestic example of Italy’s Baroque royalty. Just outside of Turin, it is a sprawling complex with its own palace, gardens, and even hunting grounds. The Royal Palace of Venaria was built in the 17th century during the Spanish reign. It was a country house for the Savoy family and also served as a hunting estate. It was modified in the 18th century with an inlet from the nearby river, a new entrance and the construction of a complex network of aqueducts, bridges, canals, ponds and fountains. The palace has a magnificent façade made up of a row of columns topped with arches, balconies and statues. Inside the palace, discover its grand marble staircases, masterly frescos and portraits of the family, and ornate gilded stuccos. The gardens of the Reggia Venaria are equally impressive and divided into several sections like Le Gallerie, Fontana dei Tritoni, and the Bosco di Venaria. Stroll through one of the longest alleyways in Europe, marvel at the ornate fountains, and admire the views of the lush lawn from terraces. Get lost in the sprawling grounds and take-in the scenery in all its glory.
