Odawara Castle - Japan
Odawara Castle, in Odawara, Japan, is an impressive feudal-era castle which is over 500 years old. It is one of the best preserved castles in Japan, as it was rebuilt relatively recently. It is surrounded by two moats, one inner and one outer, and has impressive defenses, including stone walls and gates. The main attraction is the five-story, main tower, which is known as the Tenshu. There is much to see inside the castle grounds, including the remains of past structures, such as a yagura (turret) and the Sanpukutamon gate. The castle grounds are often used as a backdrop for traditional Japanese festivals and other events. You can also marvel at the gorgeous cherry blossoms in spring and the bright foliage in autumn. When exploring the castle, souvenir shops and restaurants in the area offer refreshments and light meals.
