Sirince is a beautiful, small village located in the Izmir Province of Turkey, about 10 km from it's city center. It's known for it's cool summer climate, meticulously preserved natural beauty and superb local wine. Historically a Greek Orthodox village, the charming cobblestone streets are home to artisans, wineries and cafes. There are also lovely whitewashed houses, colorful doors and gardens, that create a picturesque atmosphere. Sirince offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills, the Aegean Sea in the far distance and Oludeniz on the west. It's a great spot for nature lovers and those looking for a peaceful getaway. Sirince is especially popular during Easter and Christmas when it's tradition to decorate houses and sing traditional hymns in the village square. The Easter Festival of wine and food also draws quite a crowd from locals and tourists alike. The town is lined with small and big boutiques for souvenir shopping. Take time to explore and try the taste of traditional Anatolian products such as local wine, carob and apple jams and wild thymus for lunch, with Turkish raki to end the meal. Finally, Sirince is home to the Saint John the Baptist Church, the only remaining historical monument from biblical times in the area, which is a must-see for history and culture lovers.
