Leuchtturm Helgoland, or the lighthouse of Helgoland, is a prominent landmark of the small island located in the North Sea which is near the coastline of Germany. While the lighthouse is one of its main attractions, the surrounding cliffs, rocks, tidal basins and seabirds also make it a great spot for nature lovers. The complex of Helgoland includes several old forts, military historical buildings and the 19th century wooden lighthouse, which was once the tallest building in Germany. Visitors are also invited to explore the remains of a Second World War bunker as well as enjoy activities like fishing and sailing on the island's harbour. During the summer months, fishermen sell their fresh catches and visitors are also allowed to swim in the shallow waters around the coast. A visit to Leuchtturm Helgoland is an unforgettable experience not be missed!
