FGAN – Fraunhofer Institut is a research and development institute located in the town of Wachtberg, in the German state of North Rhine Westphalia. It is part of the Fraunhofer Society, a non-profit organization for applied research in Germany. FGAN is specialized in fields such as aerospace, materials, information technology, and microelectronics. It also provides research and development services for private companies as well as public partners. FGAN is composed of four research divisions, several institutes, and several laboratories. The four research divisions are: Aerospace Propulsion, Materials and Systems Technologies, Information Technology and Microelectronics, and Aerospace and Climate. Its principal site is located on a campus of about 19 acres and includes several buildings, laboratories, and research facilities. It also has outstations in the nearby cities of Bonn, Aachen, and Dortmund. The institute offers a wide range of research and technological services, such as research projects, transnational projects, design and consulting, and software development. FGAN also provides educational activities to university students, professionals, and the general public.
