Dom Trier, or the Cathedral of Trier, is one of the oldest churches in Germany and is often referred to as the "eighth wonder of the world". This grand house of worship dates back to the fourth century and has been used by the Roman Catholic Church since 1136. It was home to the Prince-bishop until France took over in the 19th century. It is noted for its impressive high baroque spire, which stands high above the other rooftops of the city. Inside, there are nine chapels, each dedicated to different saints, as well as a crypt located under the high altar. The church also contains a great variety of artwork, including the impressive stained glass windows and the oldest pipe organ in Germany. The Cathedral of Trier is a beautiful place to explore, and a must-see for visitors to the city.
