Calvario di Guimiliau is a fascinating example of religious architecture located in the commune of Guimiliau, in the department of Finistère, France. It is a site where the traditional Way of the Cross of the Stations of the Cross is celebrated on a grand scale. The main feature is a grand stairway with 20 steps leading to Calvary Hill where a shrine of the Virgin Mary stands. Tall granite crosses, with smaller crucifixes adorning the bases, line the way on each side of the staircase. Several smaller shrines are also in the area, with one larger one located at the base of the stairway towards the entrance. Alongside the entrance of the site's main chapel, the restored upper room, from where Jesus and the Apostles celebrated the Last Supper, can also be visited. Spectacular views of the area can be seen from the top. The site is a popular destination for pilgrims, and a center for religious and historic interest, with many visitors coming just to enjoy the serenity of the area and admire the architecture.
