Bristol Cathedral, located in the centre of Bristol City, United Kingdom, is a magnificent Grade I listed building with a history that dates back to 1140. Built in the Norman-Gothic style, it is one of the most striking cathedrals in the country. The earliest parts of the structure are in the crypt and include the chapter house, nave and transepts. Above them, the north tower of the cathedral reaches 92ft and the south tower 100ft. Inside, one can admire the greatest fan-vaulting in the world, as well as striking stained glass. The Cathedral also contains a rich collection of terracotta sculptures and masterpiece sculptures of the Last Supper, signed by renowned artist Eric Gill. On the exterior, visitors can appreciate the beautiful rood screen, chancel, clerestory and gabled east end. Bristol Cathedral is the resting place of prominent figures such as Thomas Chatterton and Humphrey Berkeley, making it a must-see for history lovers. Don't forget to step inside the porch and clock tower, both well worth a visit.
