Vysotnyye Kacheli

Vysotnyye Kacheli (Tall Rocks) is an area near the northern outskirts of Almaty, Kazakhstan that offers breathtaking and unusual views of the city. It’s a striking, surreal landscape located at 1,500 meters above sea level and consisting of hundreds of weirdly shaped, partly eroded rocks and cliffs. When seen up close, you’ll find that the rocks are covered in ancient petroglyphs from the nomadic tribes that have historically inhabited the area. It's a great spot for experiencing a totally different side of Almaty and no visit to the city is complete without a trip to this site. Explore the area and see the ancient ruins and incredible views of the city and its nearby mountains. You can even climb the rocks, trek and spot rock climbers!
