Tjörnin

Tjörnin is a picturesque lake, located in the city center of Reykjavík. Its size is around 1.5 km in circumference and it is a popular location for walks, picnics and bird watching. You can see swans, ducks, various sea birds, terns and arctic terns around the lake. There's also a path going all around the lake, and the city's Old Town is on the east side, where the beautiful Hallgrímskirkja cathedral is located. Along the way there are also several old public houses and other sites. Tjörnin is compared to a 'small fjord in the heart of the city'. Enjoy your stay!
