Statue of Unity

The Statue of Unity, in Thavadia, India, is a huge monument dedicated to Indian independence leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It is the world’s tallest statue, standing at a height of 182 meters (597 feet). The structure is made up of around 12,000 pieces of bronze, steel and reinforced concrete, and consists of two separate parts, the central statue and the surrounding grounds and gardens. Visitors can explore the gardens and view the statue from two observation decks, located at a height of 143 meters (469 feet). From the top deck, the panoramic view is stunning and includes the Sardar Sarovar Reservoir. Other attractions on site include a museum, laser light show and a wall of unity, made up of the plates of the entire Indian Constitution. Guided tours are available, as well as camel and tractor rides around the statue.
