Selinunte Temple

The Temple of Selinunte is an impressive ancient Greek ruin located on the southern coast of Sicily. It is one of the most important and impressive examples of Doric architecture and one of the largest temple complexes in the Mediterranean. It originally had at least five temples, of which only the foundations remain; two of the temples are connected by a processional way. Architectural remains include the columns of temples, several terraces, and two altars. There is also a small museum on-site with more information. Despite the ruins, this site is still a popular destination due to its stunning beauty and its fascinating history. Photos can be taken from across the acropolis, from the various trails that surround the site, and from the adjacent San Cono reserve.
