Notre Dame

Notre Dame is a French Roman Catholic cathedral located in the heart of Paris. Located on the Île de la Cité, an island of the Seine River, it was first built in the 12th century and was completed by the 13th century. It is a remarkable example of French Gothic architecture and is considered one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Europe. The interior of the church is just as impressive with its vaulted ceilings, beautiful stained glass windows and a variety of sculptures throughout. The bell towers, which are 80 meters high, offer an amazing view of the city. Notre Dame still has active religious services and is a popular tourist destination. Its exterior gardens offer sculptures and beautiful statues, while its interior houses valuable artwork, including some of the oldest stained glass in the world. Visitors are able to explore the cathedral and its grounds, from the cloisters to the inner chapels.
