Manhattan Bridge

The Manhattan Bridge in New York City spans the East River and connects the Lower East Side of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Completed in 1909, the steel truss bridge is an incredible sight, featuring Gothic inspired arches with powerful stone pillars, a double-leaf bascule steel section, and stairs leading up to a grand walkway with spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn waterfront. The bridge is connected to the streets of Manhattan by two different elevated ramps and the historic entrance at Canal Street is a popular destination for great photographs. A great walking tour of the bridge begins at Van Vorst Park in Jersey City and goes all the way to the Brooklyn Bridge Promenade for spectacular views of Lower Manhattan.
