Harlem Meer

Harlem Meer is an oasis of nature in the heart of New York City's bustling Upper Manhattan. Located in Central Park, next to the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center, it is one of the popular spots among locals and tourists alike. This 11-acre man-made lake is a tranquil respite from the city's hustle-bustle. Besides leisurely strolls along the pathways, visitors can take part in the various activities the lake offers. The lake is the home of ducks, fish, turtles, and an array of other wildlife species surrounded by the dense trees in the park. Fishing is allowed with a valid permit, provided you have a state-issued identification. Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and bikes are available for rent, and visitors can take sailing lessons from the Charles A Dana Center. There is also a playground in the park for kids to let off some steam.
