Barnegat Lighthouse

Barnegat Lighthouse, also known as Old Barney, is located in Barnegat Light, New Jersey, in the United States. It stands 172 feet high, making it the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey. Built in 1859, it is the state Shore's most recognizable landmark, and was designated in 1767 as an official navigational aid for ships. Barnegat's lights have served as a beacon for local fishermen and traders since long before the US was a nation. Today, the lighthouse is a popular tourist attraction and a great spot for photo ops. Take a guided tour of the grounds and learn about the lighthouse's history and architecture, or just explore the park grounds, nearby marinas and beaches, or even the nearby nature center.
