Puerta del Rio

Puerta del Rio is an ancient walled city situated in Salvatierra de Tormes, in the autonomous community of Castile and Leon in Spain. It stands as a reminder of the history of the area, as it has been in existence since the Middle Ages. The city itself is surrounded by towering, imposing walls that are still intact and the entrance to the city is via the Puerta del Rio gate. The gate is a beautiful stone archway that has survived the test of time and provides an excellent photo opportunity. The interior of the city is also quite remarkable as it has an array of old churches, cobblestone streets, and ocher colored walls, providing a unique atmosphere. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, and historic sites to explore, so there is something for everyone. Furthermore, the town is the perfect place to experience traditional Spanish life, as it is not yet overcrowded with tourists.
