
Notre Dame en Vaux is a 12th century Romanesque church in Châlons-en-Champagne, France. Built in a picturesque location, the Romanesque structure has remained surprisingly intact with its double-apsed chevet and flamboyant Bell Tower. As you enter the building, you are welcomed by beautiful architecture and medieval sculptures. The transept contains an impressive gilded altarpiece that was made by the renowned mural artist Claude Loir from Troyes. There are several other unique pieces to appreciate including two gold-plated glazed stone sculptures, a haloed Virgin Mary, and a marble baptismal font. Outside the church is a beautiful wooded park that provides a peaceful setting for a picnic or wander. Park visitors will find a historic water well, several old trees, and a 15th century chapel located in the park. Visitors to Notre Dame en Vaux will be rewarded with a memorable visit.
