Notre Dame de la Mer is a medieval Romanesque/Gothic church in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, France. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it has been the pilgrimage site of thousands of travellers and worshipers. Built in 1170, the church is renowned for its magnificent stained glass windows and its ornately carved facade. Inside, you will find statues of Romanesque and Gothic heroes, which were added over the centuries. The apse of the church is decorated with golden mosaics, symbolizing the sea, and around the crypt are two chapels and an oratory. Visitors often explore the crypt of the church where the remains of two saints, Saint Sarah, a Jewish girl from Egypt, and her companions, are kept.
