Helmcken Falls

Helmcken Falls is an iconic Canadian waterfall located on the Murtle River in Wells Gray Provincial Park, British Columbia. Named for local doctor John Sebastian Helmcken, Helmcken Falls plunges an impressive 141 meters into a canyon. The steep sides and powerful current create a stunning view from a canyon overlook. This is one of Canada’s most photographed waterfalls, and is popular amongst hikers, photographers, and nature lovers. An easy hiking trail leads from the parking lot to the canyon overlook, though it may be icy during the winter months. There are also wheelchair-accessible viewpoints near the parking lot. The surrounding Wells Gray Provincial Park is full of trails, lakes and wildlife that can be explored.
