Half Dome, in Yosemite Valley, is a prominent granite monolith that towers over 4,800 feet above the valley floor in California's Yosemite National Park. The dome itself is situated halfway up the north face of Cloud's Rest, an imposing granite formation. The area around Half Dome has been a popular tourist destination since it was first explored in the mid-1800s and remains an iconic symbol of the American natural landscape. Visitors to the area can expect stunning views of Yosemite Valley, El Capitan and other formations from the overlooks and along the steep trails, and can also witness stunning wildflowers that can be found blooming throughout the spring and summer. Half Dome is most often visited by day hikers, but for those looking for a more challenging and rewarding experience, camping in the nearby campgrounds is recommended. The spectacular views from the summit make Half Dome an unforgettable adventure.
