The Girl Statue (La Bambina) is one of the most interesting and recognisable attractions in the city of Matera, Italy. Located in the Piazza Vittorio Veneto in the city centre, it is a bronze fountain depicting a young girl of Matera holding a jug in her hands. The statue was designed by the talented Italian sculptor and painter Giulio Monteverde in the late 1950s. It is a fitting tribute to the resilience and beauty of the Materana people. A visit to this sculpture is certainly a must-see destination when taking in the stunning views of the city and its surroundings.
