The Battle of Crysler's Farm Monument commemorates a significant historical battle fought in the War of 1812. On November 11, 1813, British, Canadian and First Nations forces defeated the American army of General James Wilkinson at Crysler's Farm, in a decisive battle that allowed Britain to retain possession of Canada. The battle played out across eight fierce hours and the commemoration monument measures the course of the battle and the significant events that shaped history. The site also features a Visitor Centre with displays and artifacts, educating visitors about the battle, the War of 1812, and the people involved in the fight. As well, nearby is the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Regimental Museum, containing artifacts from the long history of defending Canada from conflicts. A visit to the site is a must for history buffs, as it is an important part of Canada's fascinating past.
